Thinking about getting an obd2 lsd transmission, but how to set ignition timing ?
I was thinking about picking up a t type of lsd tranny however they don't have the transmission housing opening for my car to be able to set the ignition timing. I'm curious if anyone has any ideas how to get this to work ? Would I have to cut a hole in the bell housing ? I don't really know how to get this to work.
If you are keeping the flywheel and clutch plate from the OBD1 trans. it might be easier to cut out the timing hole the same as the OBD1 trans and keep the rubber cover as well. Or you could do an OBD2 timing cover and pulley swap.
I'd say you've got the right idea with the pulley.
take the crank pulley off and take the time to replace anything leaking around the main, then shoot it with a nice base coat of black paint.
Spray the TDC and appropriate portions in constrasting white with scored lines and just rig a line of sight viewpoint to make it all work.
I would be careful cutting into the bell housing of one of our trans, you wouldn't have the benefit of the factory webbing to reinforce the opening.
The aluminum is brittle and will break off in chunks under stress.
