Default adapting d16y8 vtech head to y7 block

i had a d16y8 vtech engine and started to rebuild it but found a crack in the block so had to get a new block and the only one i could find was a y7 non vtech block i have been told that an external oil line for the vtech is needed but others say it is not needed can any one tell me is an external oil line absolutely needed for this marriage?

you don't need anything. just put the head on the block. external oil lines are only for the b series.

I might be wrong, but you have to remove oil control orifice on the deck of the y7 block.
