Default 91 Civic Hood Stuck Closed

When i first bought this car i needed two people just to open the hood. my gf would have to push down on the hood while i pull the latch then it would pop open. now it just stuck closed. would i have to replace the latch and the latch cable? and how would i get it to open so that i could fix it. can anyone tell me??? this car is becoming a nightmare!

Is the latch lined up correctly?

i had this same issue. your hood release cable is stretched. For a temp fix, unhook the cable from the latch inside your car and use a pair of pliers to pull the cable straight out towards your shin to release the hood. You will need to change the cable which requires removal of the drivers fender and bumper. Its not hard, just time consuming.

Meh,I installed a bicycle cable adjuster on both of muh EFz stretched cables... (have to enlarge the hole in lil metal bracket a bit though) Both give me zero issues now,ha!

Seriously? mmkay, here ya go (shitty cell pic,but should suffice I suppose?):

Also had to "whittle" a bit of the plastic on cable end so would fit in teh lil cable adjuster btw.
(It will be evident what is required once you're @ it) Just be SURE that hood latches COMPLETELY secure after! (meaning not releasing it when handle isn't being pulled!!!)

The lil bike shop near me gave me 1st adjuster for free,2nd one for my obnoxiously loud-prolly-bothering-them-on-a-daily-basis 91 rex they charged me $ for,lol...

how did you fit the "bar" on the end of the cable through the barrel adjuster? or did you cut if off and clamp a new one on?

Cable adjusters have slot cut into them to allow teh cable to slip inside... (look @ a bmx handbrake cable adjuster,or a MTB's-you'll see how)
