How to get checks axles?

So I'm buying a pass. Side axle... I was wondering how can I check if its good? The axle is out of the car too

Inspect the boot for tears. The only bad thing is the boot could have always been replaced but the axle itself is bad. Also turn the splines and make sure theyre not excessively loose.

The boot doesn't have any rips, but how can I tell that's excessively loose
