yeah there aobut 80 bux with life time warrenty you might not have the clamp tight enough and with the axle spinning so fast it will slide right though the little bit of slack

The is a special tool that they use with the oem cv boot clamps that gets it VERY tight. If you are pulling it by hand, then you are wasting your time. Just get some new axles.

why buy new axles, and spend 80-100 bucks for a set when i can buy the tool and axle clamp for a fraction of the cost. The axle clamps have only cost me like 2 dollars each.

It only takes a couple grains of sand inside the boot to **** up the bearings.

Re: Axles Keep Leaking Axle Grease (maxspeedhonda)
well last time i did it, cleaned out the boot real well with a ton of brake clean, and added one package of axle grease to each axle. I wouldnt add dirt/sand/whatever into the equation. I mean im a ASE cert. mechanic and have done many axle boots on cars before, so its not like i dont know what im doing
But i have never had the problem where axle grease seeped out, but i just picked up the special tool and 2 axle clamps for under 15 dollars.

yea its probably ok do replace just boots/grease once or twice, but probably no more, because you are bound to get some crap in there or something....i'd just replace em and not worry....life tiem warranty :-D

That happened to me when I tried to get the clamp tight enough with some pliers. After I got the tool it was easy to get them sealed. I don't buy new axles unless the old ones are bad, I've taken a lot of them off, cleaned out the CV joints in a parts sink, shoved a packet of CV grease in them, and rebanded the boot, never had a problem with it.

Re: Axles Keep Leaking Axle Grease (rmcdaniels)
thats what im saying, i know they arent bad, and im gonna clean em, so why pay 80-100 dollars an axle when i just spent 15 bucks to reseal them. When they start clicking thats when ill replace em. I just got the axles a little under 10k ago.
