Default best piston/piston kit to rebuild a b16a with?

hi guys, wondering what type of pistons or piston kit to buy for this engine? im gonna need everything, gaskets and all of course, i was thinking wiseco but they are 500 bucsk for pistons only and dont even include all the gaskets?

im also thinking higher comp than the stock 10.5:1, i think its 10.5:1? wouldnt mind something a bit higher that will still handle 91 octane fuel,, thanks!

start off in tearing down your motor and then seeing if its worthy of a rebuild.
that way you arent wasting money/time on having to send them back if your motor is not in the best shape.

well its burning oil, figure pistons and rings any ways, but its my brothers car, he dont care about the engine much lol just as long as he isnt burning oil because thats "embarrassment"

and best, well i mean a good piston, something thats reliable and going to work or wont fail, i see on ebay there is tons of piston kits but i think, i guarantee most of them are cheap and crappy pistons....

so im asking here what do guys run? brands? kits?

like i said, i figure while im at it i was thinking to raise the comp ratio for the hell of it

"For the hell of it". Not very technical.

What purpose do you need aftermarket pistons for? Might as well get OEM and be done with it.

well i was told that the oem pistons had some issues with the rings that the oil rings would go bad thus causing it to burn oil, the cars been meticulously maintained even the previous owner,

so, if oem is good, then thats good, but i figured higher compression just to give it a lil more "kick" or power

Just curious. OEM oil rings go bad? Who told you that? More kick? How did you figure that? And what precisely does "kick" mean?

i suck at explaining what i mean, and the oil rings was some guy at work who did some work on some of these older honda engines,

and kick, well give the engine some more torque or what ever, i know higher compression usually = not as high reving but helps give some more torque through the range

lol i dont know its been a while since i looked into it, so i dont really think what i remember is valid... but either way a higher compression ratio couldnt hurt i know that, as long as dont go too high for your fuel

As far as the burning of oil, Honda valve seals tend to be one of the main culprits of oil smoke in Hondas. You should prolly rebuild your head inspect and lap the valves and replace those seals, if you want you could even do a quick port job....

If you want torque you might want to ditch that B16 for a B18/ B20 bottom end or look into boost. B16's rev to the moon!

we already pulled the heads, the valve seals were part of the problem for sure, so we had replaced a few valves, seated them all, replaced all the valve seals and figured maybe thats the problem...., it did help but wasnt the cure, its evident that the piston rings are bad i guess, the amount it smokes and burns oil its pretty bad, the intake is all clean, no oil coming into it there... its like 1L of oil every 200-300 km's

boost would be fine, but for my brother of which its his car and hes dont undstand nothing, i wouldnt put a turbo in the car since he wont know how to deal with it lol,

do you have anything you'd recommend doing to this b16 while i have it appart? my thoughts where a bit higher comp pistons
