timing belt
My bad if this question has already been asked. I'm going to purchase a water pump + timing belt for my '98 honda accord dx auto (167,000km). I was told there are two kinds of timing belts: one is for the balance shaft and the other is crankshaft. Which one do I need?
thanks,
thanks,
Both....Also replace the cam, crank and balance shaft seals (and balance shaft seal retainer if not already equipped with one) while your doing this. Check the two tensioners/springs to make sure they are still in good condition. No use doing this job twice.
Thanks for your help
This is a pretty easy job...I purchased "Eric the Car Guys" video on how to do it (I think I paid 12 bucks) and I would highly recommend it.
My balance shaft was out of time (and it was very noticeable)...Eric kinda "eyeballs" how to set the balance shaft..this is how I did it (now the engine is very smooth):
If you cruise youtube, you can see alotta videos on how the belt job is done....again, Eric's was very useful and worth it (in my opinion)...he has a few tricks and tips that helped.
Good Luck!
