Default Scat stroker crank

Who has used Scat's 92mm or 95mm stroker cranks, and what are your experiences with them in terms of longevity and quality?

you need a good shop to install that crank.
i've seen some break in half from bad installation or not using the correct bearings.
they are bend in some way.
the quality is not like oem.

Aren't these the same cranks that 4piston is selling and using in their race motor?

We have used Scat for years and never had an issue. I think they are nicer than some of the other options out there. I spent some time talking with them last week when I was ordering 95s and I had assumed they were chinese forgings, but they told me the stock comes from the UK and they assure me they are very consistent. Either way, we haven't had an issue.

I think that a lot of the problems people have with cranks is related to how they put the whole setup together. When you move the rod journal further away from the main you really put the crank through hell. They flex a lot and that is why it is important to keep weight in the piston and rod down...to minimize some of that flex. Guys that broke cranks probably had other issues...like pistons smashing into the head, rod failure, or valves hitting piston...then the crank broke and they just assume that it happened the other way around.

We are using Winberg billets in our 400hp K motors because there is a lot of other $$$$ at risk should a crank ever fail. But there is no way that the B series market will pay $3500-3900 for a crankshaft. You are luck to get someone to invest half that in a whole rotating assembly.

If you want a bigger B motor, this is the way to go. Put it together correctly and you shouldn't have any issues.

Are the pistons in your stroker kits utilizing raised wristpins? What is the R/S ratio of your 95mm stroker? I read on another site that one MUST use Clevite bearings when using Scat cranks...is this true?

I have heard the same thing about the clevite bearings but thats what it was heard.
I dont see wht you would have to use the clevites id lthing the acl race or even the oem bearings would be a better choice to get the clearence exactlye where you want it.

I too am looking into going to a 95 or 98 stroker crank but am limited to stock deck height.

If I go 95 I would prob use the 137 rod if I go 98 maybe 134 rod but still researching the 98 crank. Either will take a piston with the pin moved higher.

My current 92 uses 137 rods with the pins moved up to achieve preper deck height.

The 92 makes good power just its never enough.

We run a small tool steel pin raised up...its still a short rod in a stock deck but a lot better than it could be. A dart block or deck plate is ideal, but not everyone has that option.

I don't know where the Clevite deal came from. We have been running ACL race bearings on those cranks since they came out...I dunno..maybe 8 years ago.
