no dash lights after fixing fuse 19 short
i did not have tailights, dashlights because the illumination wire from the previous owner from an aftermarket radio had grounded out on the chassis. i unwrapped all the wires from the fuse box side of the dash harness all the way to the climate control wires look great. now i have taillights and parking lights just no backlite dash. yes the oil light, check engine, and so one when first started. i also have blinkers and i have done the test on the dimmer switch i have power and ground but when i jump red to black i dont get dash lights i checked continuity on all wires for breaks, power, ground so on i am nearly stumped could a bad combination switch cause this? i did check the cluster bulbs there fine.
the red wire and red/black wire have battery voltage to ground
my problem is very spot on with this thread

civic cant fail me now no major problems like this in five years i have owned it could be it talking back after just turning 252kkk lol help me and this guy out no hair left to pull out
Dimmer switch may have shorted out. Also I read somewhere that if it shorts out, it can sometimes cause the cluster lights to short out and only fix... is a new cluster

If the dimmer switch shorted out but then shorted out the cluster this is why I can't get dash lights by jumping the red and and black wire but its not a problem I have heard of people having
I have the same issue, I have a aftermarket radio that I did not install (previous owner) that has the illumination (red and black) completely burnt charred. However when i touch the power to the illumination all dash lights come on to include parking lights. Not sure where to go from here I know what the problem is just not sure what to do now.
