You need to start with a leakdown test, to figure out how the oil is getting into the combustion chamber.

Quick test with out any tools, best to have people help you so they can observe while you drive.

Hard acceleration (3-5 krpm), look for bluish smoke. Bluish smoke is the indicator oil is being burn. If you see it here, it's a piston ring/cylinder wall problem.
Hard decelerate, immediate let go of your gas after the hard acc. If you see the tint of blue smoke then it's a valve seal problem.

If you have proper equipment, Leak down test is the best way to go.

how often you change ur oil and oil filter?? could be that piston rings are not making a good seal, if you never change the oil. just saying, that would be easiest fix. if not, your looking into spending some money.

if he has a comp tester you can test it too, check the compression dry then squirt oil into the cylinders, if the comp goes up its rings if it stays the same its prob in the head

rings or seals either way you need to do the right thing and rebuild it.
I dont believe in re ringing, or re sealing the valves.
Thats like putting a band aid on it.

if its chocking on idle and it burns oil then you have a pcv valve problem, simple and cheap fix... if not hopefully you haven't busted a seal... *cross your fingers*
