Default Stolen - B16B civic Eg from Fullerton area

Posting for a friend.

Her civic eg with b16b swap was stolen Fullerton area. If anyone has information or sees anything for sale please let me know.

I feel bad. Damn thieves.

She built the car with her husband. So much $ went into the project and now it was found stripped. She hasn't seen the car but I guess that's what police are saying..

Update.

She has an alarm. I guess they cut it, and towed it. She parks inside her apartment gates but the gate has been down for a week or so, I guess they took advantage.

She found someone on Facebook selling parts that match hers. The motor looks to have the valve cover painted, sloppy paint job. Trying to cover it up. He's only selling for $800 obo with tranny....

2nd. The cluster he is selling matches the mileage that she last remember it being at.

3rd. He had posts up asking someone for a flatbed to "pick up" a car. He seemed desperate, had 4 posts in a row asking and stating he will give a full tank of gas...

I told her she needs to call this guy and act like an interested buyer and ask to view the parts in person with her husband. I'm sure they can varify their own stuff..

She's pretty upset and is just going to sleep on it. I told her that the police could care less because the car was recovers already but stripped.

Any suggestions? She has no papers for motor, she bought it years ago from a relative. I asked her if the civic was BAR'd for the b16b but she isn't responding.

I'm assuming there is a police report filed.

Go in as an interested buyer, verify it is the stolen vehicle. Act interested, and leave with a bs story saying you need to go get the cash.

Come back with the authorities.

I know this is what I would do. Good luck to your friend!

Agree totally.. one caveat. Garage your prized cars or this will happen.
You cant just leave them on the streets or even a gated apartment area.
Especially in california.
Sorry to hear about this.

yah thanks.
shes thinking that someone followed her home one night. she likes to drive the car around at night as a stress reliever.
i know i do the same with my integra. nothing beats a midnight cruise with open roads

the car was recoverd stripped but they are investigating so they wont let her see the car

but i told her to go with her husband to look at the motor the guy is selling and verify its theirs. im sure i can verify my own property if i saw it in person.

thanks guys.

I would def investigate... That sucks how it got taken. On the other hand, if this guy is really selling the stolen parts and you and or her foil him. That would be a story to be told. Time to take a closer look... GL

If you want the police to help, come up with solid evidence, such as photos or something linking that engine to her car.
My friend who had a civic with type R swap that was stolen was able to confirm parts being sold with pictures he had. It was something dumb like his type R hub had a little white paint on it from when he repainted the car. The cops took the parts and held it for over a year then gave it back to him. As far as the guy who had the parts, no charges could be put on him because he says he bought it from craiglist.

Good luck..

The couldng even get him for recieving stolen property?
They held the parts because they had a case against someone.
Police just dont hang on to parts because they like to.
Standard holding of stolen property is 30-45 days unless one shows like you said solid evidence.

go get them parts! im sure she/they have pics of her build. Id be ape-sheot at the police station. Those parts are your property and you would like them back.

Jesus christ, if it were cash from a bank, they would give the cash back to the bank if the robber was found. WTF is the world coming to.

Yeild a stop sign and u got 3 cruisers parked behind you.

What he said...

I bought a set of these stamps about 10 years ago.
http://www.harborfreight.com/36-piec...g-set-800.html
I stamp my name on every engine block, head, and transmission for each of my cars.
Head is stamped under the intake manifold, block is stamped near the oil filter, and tranny is stamped under the upper trany mount.
