Default Toda B camshaft help

Ok to start it off this was my setup when i took it to tune.

b16b deck 0.015 inch with
toda b camshaft with skunk2 pro cam gears
skunk2 valve spring and retainer
mugen 2 layer head gasket
skunk2 IM & TB
Aem short ram with blox velocity stack
smsp replica header
custom 2.5 exhaust
tune on hondata s100

some how the tuner cant tune my b16b. He said tat the toda b is not making power when vtec engage how it suppose to. i hear that these cams make a lot of power for the b16b tat why i got them. he didnt tell me much. the motor put down 170whp with the toda b cams less than ctr cam when i had it tune. before i had the toda b cams install, i tune it with ctr cams and it made 175whp more than toda b cams. I was wondering if there is something wrong with my setup. I hear tat you have to degree the cams to make power so how do i degree them and to what degree. I also hear that you have to run toda valve train and cam gears but im not sure. does that really make a differece? for those ppl tat have experience with toda b cams any help woud be helpful on how to run these cams correctly.

Actually, those cams need compression. At least about 11.5:1 or higher. A lot of people that use these cams (including myself) realized that they just will not make power unless its over 11.5:1, so its time for pistons to produce power with this.

It's not your tuner, its not your camshaft.. its your compression. We did over 203whp with them just last year alone on APex'i Power FC Standalone.

I deck my head it should give a compression jump and plus the mugen head gasket should give it compression jump. I use a online compression calculator and the compression is at 11.4:1. The b16b stock compression is already at 10:7.1. I don't think its the compression I think it is the can gear degree right.

Actually, 11.4:1 isn't enough. If you didn't degree the camshafts on their centerlines, (I'm not talking just the cam gear adjustment), you still won't get optimal power out of it, and you need about 11.8:1 or more to really utilize these camshafts. I've had both Toda Spec B and Spec Cs for over 10 years before a lot of companies came out, so I know a bit about these. If you need degree specs, see the attachment below.

I loved the b's also!

I had C's after that, but IMO the b's were better for lower compression.
And I have spec a's in my other car. I'm a Toda *****.

OP, you know toda's piston set puts them at over 12:1 static cr, so even though you should make power, you are probably losing due to overlap.

If you have a thinner headgasket and also decked the block, then you should adjust your cam gears to compensate.

Degree the cams like shodan said.

I think you have to retard both cams when you take off the deck or run a thinner hg.

@ THE SHODAN; IM HAVING THE SAME ISUE WITH TODA C, I HAVE A B20 WITH JUST 205 WHP, 140WTQ, DEGREED TO THE SPECS AND ADVANCED 2 DEGREES THEN TO INTAKE CAMSHAFT IT MADE 10 WHP MORE, BUT I THIN ISN'T ENOUGH POWER

COULD YOU GIVE ME AND ADVISE ABOUT PLAYING WITH THE SPROKETS FOR MORE POWER

this would be an excellent question for your tuner
