99 Civic LX 5 speed - code 6 and overheating
Hi, so i recently jumped ship from civic forums because i never received any help from the members and usually received scrutiny for it (go figure someone asking for help on forums).
Anyway, i have a CEL on my 99 Civic LX 5 speed. I flashed the CEL to show me that it was 6 single fast flashes which indicated error code 6 ECT - water temperature sensor. Also My cars been getting really hot due to it either drinking or burning up my radiator fluid, or water (whichever i put into my radiator) where is that thirsty itch putting it all? The CEL popped on when i was climing up the grade the other day and i had to pull over and get it towed home it was too hot, if that helps anyone at all. Any help would be nice and appreciate it in advanced.

There are reasons for hot temps.
sensors... temp and fan
hoses
heater cores
thermostats
water pumps
radiators
Start by doing a visual inspection of all these items and see if you are leaking any coolant.

Fluid is good its just dissapearing on me and after i stop I check under the car for leaking fluid and have yet to find any. The radiators circulating the water like it should, do i need to replace the sensor since the CEL is indicating its a temp sensor, etc?
no man.. the sensor is doing its job. your car is getting hot for a reason man. u r goin to have to figure out where. may sound kinda dumb but i would pull on a parking lot or driveway. start the car and jus let it idle. keep looking under the car and in the engine bay to hopefully see a possible leak. like the gentleman said above. thats a good list of possible problems. lot of us have been in this situation so i hope the best for ya man!

sounds like either a cracked head or blown head gasket if its not in your oil its going out the tail pipe as steam or its blowin it out the over flow you can find out by doing a pressure leak down test on the radiator just goes on where ur cap does u pump it full of air and see if it leaks down pressure
