Can someone tell me what the dimples are there for?

prolly the same reason people cross drill rotors - to for cooling, and to eliminate the layer of gas/deposits (somebody help me here) that can build up between the pads and the rotor.

btw - these would be overkill for the street. I wonder if the dimples make the rotor stronger vs a normal cross-drilled disk...

except I don't think the cooling is improved with these.

Yes the disk themselves would be srtonger (or less subject to cracking) then cross drilled disk

Then the question should be why didn't the manufacture drill all the way through? instead they leave this slight dimple on the surface...

I run these on my DC2 which are very similar to the disc above. What make is that?

The blind drilled holes break down surface gases when braking from speed but do not weaken the rotor cross section as can happen with through drilling, thereby lessening the chance of rotors cracking over time and heavy use.

They Do make them look good thats for sure.

Because the disk with dimple would be less subject to craking compare with the disk with drilled holes, regardless of the actual usefullness of the dimples.

<sigh> I bought these under the speculation that these are blank rotors, instead they sent me these things. BTW, I would love to buy those expendable Autozone/Advanced Autoparts/NAPA rotors, unfortunately they want to charge me $88 for my particular application. These on the other hand, were only 53 dollars shipped.

That sucks. But, look on the bright side - they make good door stops.
