Compression is 185, 170, 170, 210
I think the harbor freight leakdown tester is junk. The reviews say it will only regulate the output pressure up to 25 psi. How much should I pay for a Decent tester?
How do I hold the crank in position? Does it have to be at absolute TDC? I had compressed air at 90 psi pumped in and on some cylinders i think it started to slip the power steering belt, which I was trying to use the ps pump pulley bolt to lodge a wrench against the subframe.
If it is just past tdc by 10 degrees or so, what is the difference? Ring lands?!
It's still definitely on power stroke with no valves open, I can clearly see th cam and rockers....
300,000 mi. Smokes a little at high revs in driveway. Block test was negative for combustion gases.
Sometimes feels like losing power. New plugs helped.
185, 170, 170, 210.
Pattern is very consistent. Did it several times, cold warm, seven stroke crank, 12 strokes crank...numbers vary, but overall pattern is evident

What's that about....all cylinders have carbon on top...3 and 4 spark plugs show a lot of ashy deposits...., but 3 is 170. Weird
Can oil control problems raise compression?
Can oil control problems raise compression?
you can try a wet compression test , a cap of oil into the cyl . if your compression goes up after this test, you have faulty rings not sealing completely ... or you can do a leak down test which will give you an exact problem. To hold the crank in position you want to get it at TDC COMPRESSION and do not try to hold it , if your off a couple of degrees the pressure will force your rod/piston down hence making the crank rotate. take your breaker bar off . You want exhaust and intake valves completely clossed. you can double check this with a coat hanger seeing the piston is at the top of travel or like you said the rocker/cams... good luck!!
So if I put the regulator for the compressor on the END of my hose, hold the power steering pulley with my 19mm open end, I should be able to slowly turn up the pressure, while moving the crank back and forth a couple of degrees until I can keep turning up the pressure, but the pressure is going straight down into a completely vertical connecting rod?
And then let go of the power steering pulley? Wow. It's like I think that if someone walks by and whispers , the crank will move enough to get leverage on the 1* of the crank and then push itself over rapidly and highly dangerously.
Can I just put the car in gear instead?
