oil stick keeps popping off
hello,
i am having this issue on my H22 motor (installed in a 4th gen accord)
i have done some research and it seems most of the time it is caused by a faulty PCV valve or by a high compression in the base of the engine
i have done a compression test and numbers wer good, i bought a new pcv valve but the problem happened again today...and its a messy problem, im fed up with cleaning my engine bay
so besides the 2 possibilities mentionned above, what could cause my oil stick to pop off? is it a known issue on H22A motors?
help me please!

You sure the hose for the PCV valve isn't clogged? Check the nipple on the IM too, seen cars where the person wasn't good at changing the oil on time causing sludge build up to clog the PCV valve, the hose to the IM and the nipple on the IM. Might even want to check the underside of the valve cover to make sure sludge isn't caking the baffles not letting any air even get to the valve.
The PCV valve should also be an OEM one, aftermarket ones never work good.
Your problem is definitely PCV related, too much pressure being built up in the crank case.

well the OEM was definatly blocked, wasnt making any sound when i shaked it, the new one (jobber) feels like theres something really loose inside so i assume its not blocked, i will check the PCV system further (hose and all)
but...if its not the PCV and if its not exessive blow-by, what else could it be?
or, if compression test gives good results, how could i still have excessive crankcase pressure or blow-by?

Your compression test being good is telling you the motor is healthy, but you can still have a decent amount of blow-by. This is a common problem on other engines, but not the H22, from what I have seen.
i had the same issue. check to see if the rubber bushing on the oil stick is ripped or damaged. if it is replace it. that bushing is meant to have a little resistance to prevent it from popping off. so if its torn no resistance out it come
yea, i will replace it, bet there pretty cheap...but i doubt the pressure built in the engine is enough to pop the stick even if its loose (in an engine with normal blow-by)
thing is that the problem doesnt happen systematically, i could replace the stick, and think all is fine for 2 months then it happens again, back to starting point...that what kinda bothers me

well re-did a compression test, on a warm engine this time and a leak down test.....turns out cylinder 2 has a busted ring so engine will go garbage next summer, storing the car soon, will just buy a new motor...or rebuild with sleeves and low comp pistons if i got the budget :p
thx for the ''help'' anyways guys!
