Default chipped p72 ecu

does anybody know what i need to do to find out what ems is running on it? the chip itself just has sst on the top of it nothing special about it i see blanks on the net that look just like it so im kinda at a loss

There is no EMS. It is just a basemap on a chip. You cannot reprogram a chip. An EMS is usually a piggyback or standalone system.

that is actually very helpful my next question is should i just buy a new chip with a p75 basemap since my car isnt vtec.....

Why are you just not running a the correct STOCK ECU?

Since you never ONCE mentioned what car you drive or any specs (which is required in this forum per the rules) about it or why you need a chipped ECU, that's the only advice I can give.

its a 98 ex with a obd1 p72 in it came with the car along with the b swap and some other nice goodies

Define "nice goodies" & "B swap" if you want to receive useful information and could get your thread locked. Being vague does not help.

has a short ram cold air a 4-2-1 mani has a ls b18b1 and tranny as far as i can tell its just stock from looking at it aftermarket crank pully gold color has a single plug dizzy 62 mm tb thats about all i can tell ya about the car after looking at it tinkering with it ect

the main reason i want to put a different chip in it is mainly due to its always rough idle when warm at 500 rpm and always missing at an idle cold or hot ive given it a full ignition system overhaul and cleaned the iacv and it feels like someone pulled the e brake at 3k rpm to 4k rpm and then pulls really hard 4 to red line oh and gets about 20 mpg or less with o2 plugged in about 30 mpg unplugged
