Default 1990 LS overheating...misfiring? fan?

my LS is misfiring & overheating. stock b18a1. only bolt-ons.

i have a brand new radiator and slim fan in it. ive replaced the tstat and all the hoses. I also replaced the fuel injectors, fuel filter, spark plug wires, and spark plugs. no blown fuses either. ive flushed the system and put new coolant in as well. no leaks. new oil pan gasket, tstat gasket, exhaust gaskets. No CEL.

if i just let it sit at idle the car does not overheat. and it overheats when im in lower gears a lot but not when im in higher gears, i would attribute this to airflow & less stress on the tranny/engine.

after running the car for 25-30min multiple time the car overheats, the fan will not turn on, this is at neutral idle and even when revving at 1500, 2000, and 2500rpms.

1. the slim fan will not turn on, why ?
2. is it the wiring of the fan or an electronic component ?
3. is this why its overheating or is it something else ?
4. why is it misfiring ?

*i was at a party the other day and i talked to a guy i met there about it. he says its the headgasket. hes never looked at my car. i have no oil in the coolant and the exhaust isnt spitting out water. there is also no oil leaks. im really hoping its not the headgasket. idk if he was just full of **** or if thats really what it is.

Help please! Thanks in advance !

1. Possibly a bad fan switch. Fan switch is located on the t-stat housing

2. see #1. Also, do you have the fan wired so it is pulling air if on the engine side or pushing air if on the front bumper side?

3. Have you properly bled the cooling system? Is there anything blocking the radiator from the front or back side of it? Did you install the t-stat backwards?

4. Possibly a bad igniter if it only misfires when its warm.

X2 all the above^^^, [what 1998GsRIntegra said] except on the 90 Integra I beleave it is on the back of the engine next to the oil filter, 2wire plug with a black lead and a yellow/green lead, unplug it and with the ign. switch on, use a paperclip to jump the two leads in the plug, if rad fan turns on, replace the ECT switch.

If not the probem may be wiring, a fuse or the rad fan relay. 94

1. https://honda-tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2889629 that may help. I typically never test fan switches, I just replace them if they are in question because I have a ton laying around that have just collected among so many other things over the years. Fan switches are pretty cheap, being that it's an inconsistent problem, I would just replace it. Up to you though as to how you want to go about it.

2. Good

3. Good. You are using 50/50 rad fluid, not full strength right?

4. That doesn't rule out the ignitor. http://easyautodiagnostics.com/honda..._systems_1.php This will help with the issue of testing the ignitor and the coil.

My mistake on the fan switch location, I'm used to them being on the t-stat housing. Forgot about the b18a thing. I have one sitting in my shed so you'd think I should know where the fan switch on one is. Lol

Paperclip method... unplug the connector going to the fan switch from the fan switch itself (I know that's such a clear statement Lol). Bend a paperclip into a U shape. Look into the connector there will be two slots for the pins on the fan switch. Insert paperclip into slots. Turn key to on, if fan comes on, problem found...replace fan switch.

No biggie, I have a 94RS and for the longest time I thought it was on the T housing on all Integras, I am sure you can find a post of mine here stating so, maybe even arguing so, one lives and learns something new every day. 94
