Default Header swap on B16, need input!

Hey everyone
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
My b16 currently has a Greddy 4-2-1 header with a 2-1/4'' collector; I picked up a PLM 4-2-1 2-1/2" collector (Toda replica) I'm assuming; for free... is it worth the effort to swap them out? I'm looking to get tuned in spring now that the race season is over. Will I see much difference?

i would say that a Name BRand will always be better than a REPLICA.

^^

a tube is a tube no matter whos name is on it is my 2 pennies.

as long as it has decent flow to it youll be fine. Some like the tri-y help low-mid range and others like the 4-1 help upper bands.. all depends where you want your power.

read this and form your own opinion..

http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Miscella...austtheory.htm

to be honest, i always disliked AEM intakes cuz they take a piece of tubing and charge 300 bucks for it.. a tube is a tube.

Thank you for te replies guy, and that is a great read. My main reason for the question was the diameter size of the collector being 1/4" large; and the runners of the header being larger and longer than my Greddy header. I'd have to shorten my test pipe to accommodate the new plm header. So I was gushing interest to see if it was worth the time to do it.

The larger collector along will help out.

well yes and no. a poorly built replica with offset exhaust flanges and silpshod welding does more harm than good. so id check it out 1st before installing it into the car. 2 1/2' sounds good, but whats your setup? stock B16?

Ahh, your Greddy is probably a 2" OD outlet to fit the stock cat. That aftermarket header will be 2-1/2" OD outlet.

Mods for my B16 are: itr throttle body, itr intake manifold, 96-00 itr cams, header, test pipe, and full Skunk2 exhaust.
The header is a private label manufacturing and I tried hunting down some reviews on them and didn't find much, but the product seems pretty decent, clean welds inside and out, decent over all construction. I'll post pictures this evening when I get home.

IMHO if ure running stock compression (which is to say 10.5:1) I feel that u wont really feel that much of a difference if ure already on one which is pretty well made, unless that header as i mentioned before is of appalling quality. the stock DC2R 4-1 header is your best bang for the buck. Unless the toda replica is well made and if its really free then id say give it a try, most prob it'll make more power due to the larger diameter but do note that some low end power will be lost as ure on stock compression.
