Y8 head on Y5 block, What do i need?
I have a 97 hx that i want to put a y8 head on the y5 block, what do i need to make this work? same ecu or y8 ecu? do i just get a y8 head with the vtec solenoid from the y8 and just bolt it up to the y5?
I'm about to do something similar. From everything I've read you use the ecu that matches the head, along with the timing belt that matches the head. I'm still learning too tho so..
It's 5 speed, the intake manifold and the injectors from the y5 will work? And I'm obv gunna need to change the head gasket right? Can I use the same head bolts? I need help here guys , I'm gunna by the head tomorrow and I need to know what I'm getting into
The heads are pretty much the same, the differences are on the inside where the Y5 has a different cam profile as well as roller rockers. The ECUs are different too, so I'd run the ECU out of the Y8 if I were you.

Wrong ^ the y5 only has one vtec sol. The vtec kick in rpm is lower using the y5 ecu and since it has the "wild" rocker, vtec wouldn't run right either.

guarantee that.
guarantee that.
