Icon2 2000 crv awd ls/vtec ecu help

Ok i have a automatic 2000 crv awd with a b20. i know everything i have to do to convert it to ls/vtec. but the thing im most confused about the most is the ecu. i hear the p28 chip is the best for my situation. do i just need to replace the chip or do i need a whole ecu? and does anyone know what i should buy and what will work? and will replacing the ecu or chip disable my awd?

thanks.

You need an OBD1 P28 ecu and a OBD2 to OBD1 jumper harness.

Good luck!

i know several autobox Vs here that did a vtec conversion used apexi vafc to control the vtec
engagement and still uses their stock ecu... ill try to search for those threads, may be you can
pm them and ask around.... but 2 cars we did back in the shop, is that we used 2 ecu, its a bit
of a work but it was done to control the tranny and the obd1 ecu for the engine....

To simplify your build you could get an Automatic GSR ECU. GSRs overseas came in automatic so that would work for ya without having to use any aftermarket engine management units

thanks guys! you were a big help! one more question a little off topic. i was either gonna make it ls/vtec or run a little turbo on it. if i ran the turbo what kind of ecu would i need?

thanks!

You're driving an automatic bro...i wouldn't even bother going turbo unless you feel like breaking things in your transmission. Going over to the 'dark side' requires money and a lot of research...which doesn't seem like you've done any yet no offense.

this is something I would be intersted in doing so if he runs the automatic gsr ecu will the awd still work when the front tires loose traction or is the awd system not controled by the ecu?

awd is 100% mechanical. No ecu involvement.

I read that you need a obd2-obd1 jumper harness I hope this head swap
doesn't take the higher torque that the crv comes with compare to the gsr correct me if I'm wrong
