Ls crank in b18c GSR would fit or not?
hi everyone, i ask this question because i am now building a turbo gsr and last year i had a b20vtec with eagle rod and the sleeves broke so i tear down the engine and kept the rods.
i was planning to re use the same rods but they doesn't fit on my gsr crank.
so i would like to know if an ls crank would fit in a gsr block beacause the price of an ls crank is more cheaper than buying new eagle rods lol.
i made some research on internet and i found some forums that says it fits and others that says it doesn't fit. so could i have the right answers please!?
thanks

OP - Yes, obviously an LS cranksahft fits in a GSR block as there are hundreds of builds on here that have exactly that. The 89mm stroke is favored over the 87.2mm one for more torque. What is more confusing is why you saved the rods but not the "LS" crank??? The B20 cranksahft is the same as a B18A/B crank...
I remember reading muckmans high compression build thread, and he shaved down the oil squirters so the counterweights don't have any problems rotating.
Just to prevent any further damage down the road, I'd still get the whole "new" rotating assembly balanced.

i didnt kept the crank because at this time i was not thinking about making another build so y sold it.
thanks again
Use your LS crank, same GSR main caps that came with the GSR block, and LS rods. The only machine work you would want done is a hot tank to clean the block, a hone for the cylinders, and a polish of the crank. Maybe a line hone if you really want, but it's not necessary if the caps came from the block.
^Hot tank an aluminum block is kind of dangerous.
I would degrease it with hot water instead.
Hot tanking is related for individuals using cast iron blocks.

Maybe my machine shop uses different chemicals when they clean my engines because it hasn't affected any of the aluminum I've brought them. I know what you mean though.
Most shops don't use the old style hot tank solution due to EPA regulations... the new stuff doesn't clean for crap and won't harm aluminum... Regardless, you are always supposed to thoroughly wash the block afterwards. Also, there are a few different forms of "hot tanking"...
OP - Use everything from the GSR block (main caps, girdle, ect) and everything will be fine with deck height as well as long as you use LS rods with a LS crankshaft.

ya, the eagle rods that i kept from my old b20vtec are the same as for an ls block so no problem with the rods
