Why oh why arn't my brakes working?
I recently changed my rear shoes on my 2004 HCH. The brakes arn't working properly and something is wrong but I can't quite figure it out. When I pump the brakes the pressure builds and I can feel they are working, but then when I put it in drive and go down the block it looses all the pressure and I have to slam on the brakes 3 times to get the car to stop.
I think it might be the rubber gaskets on the wheel cylinder, but I am not sure. If anyone has any ideas I wouldn't mind if you sent them my way.
Btw I am not leaking any brake fluid. Is it possible that I have a big air bubble in my brake line? And if so how do I fix that?

I recently changed my brakes on my 04 HCH and now a grinding noise started. It's specifically coming from the right rear and I took a look at it and there we like black metal shavings in the drum. The grinding sounds like metal to metal contact. I am wondering what are some possibilities why this might be happening.
I just took it to les schwab and the only thing the guy could think of is the inside of the drum might need to be ground down or smoothed out. But even he said that might not fix it. I felt in the drum and it feels fine and smooth. Then I called honda and they think it is a bad shoe. If anyone has any idea's I would appreciate it.

I suggest buying a service manual. Click here. Or take it to a shop and have them inspect/adjust/fix it.

Bleed the brakes. If you have air then the brakes are not working. In particular if the front brakes do not engage then you will hear a grinding noise when putting the car in drive.
(That's you transmission, assuming you have an automatic)
