Car is getting horrible gas mileage and I may have a cracked distributor cap, I just replaced the fuel filter and getting new fittings and hoses for my new fuel pressure regulator, I can't figure out why, the idle is also horrible, I tried disconnecting the iacv from the back the manifold and adjusting the idle screw but still idles at a steady 1400 or at a redlight all it does is fluxuate from 1400 or so to 2300 and go back and forward and can be quite annoying, along from my misfire probly from the distributor I can't tell why its burning so much, its running really rich, you can practically get dizzy from 2 cars behind me, but I don't smell fresh unburnt fuel or see any leaks even under fluxuating throttle to go threw pressure changes and can't find anything. Thanks for the help.

Iac is pulling vaccum from the throttle body hole, vaccum leaks, didn't find any, when the car first starts it idles fine, I can rev it to 3 and then when it comes back down, just bounces.

To bleed the cooling system you just start it with the cap off and let all the bubbles cycle and come out correct? And no I didn't actually pull the plugs but I just did spark plugs maybe 3 months ago.

take your fitv off and adjust it closed like this thread.

your cracked cap shouldn't even be a question. replace that. and the rotor. and your plugs.
make sure you're not throwing any codes.
also try swapping injectors out with another set, you could have a stuck injector.

I would start by replacing the plugs with the proper ngk's i think its bkr8's i may be way off on that its been a while but thats the proper ngk plug for your motor, if you already have the correct plugs installed by correct i mean the plug mentioned above and none else did you check for proper gap on the plugs, the distributor cap i wouldnt worry about yet unless its actually cracked through causing poor contact with the rotor

Comes to find out it was an o ring in the injector slot of the intake manifold, I replaced the o rings and reset the ecu and the misfire even went away, but for the sake of argument I am replacing the ignition coil, cap and rotor as this is probably the first time its ben done in over 18 years for the motor. I will also clean the fast idle air valve even though the idle hunt has now stopped as well, I think it was just like air getting past the rubber so it was almost like a bad vacuum leak along with the exposed ever so evaporating quickly gasoline.
