Is the 2011/2012 Odyssey keyless entry remote fob compatible with the 2006 model?

I've read threads about people replacing their key + fob with a hacked Ridgeline all-in-one key to work on their Elements or Fits (e.g., here) and I want to do something similar with my odyssey. That is, I'll take the immobilizer chip out of my current key and put it into an all-in-one, then re-program the remote part.

I'm pretty sure it will work with the Ridgeline key, but I use the remote to open the side doors way too often, so I can't get away with just lock/unlock on the remote. But then I noticed that the 2011+ Odyssey models have 5-button all-in-one keys that include the side door openers (part # 35118-TK8-A10). I checked the programming instructions and it seems to be the same as the 2005-2009 instructions. Anyone know if it can be programmed to operate these earlier models?
