No start
So I have a new B18C build, the battery checks out fine, the starter recieves the power. When The Battery is hooked up the starter (just purchased) whines up all by itself. Any ideas? I have the motor Ground as well as the top of the tranny. I am wondering if it is the relay below the steering column, and if so does anyone have the diagram bc it was previously spliced into due to some moron. Car was driving on the road last year with no problems, just had a shady garage that may have left something unattended or unhooked. The ECU is plugged in as well. Ideas???
Thanks for all help/advise
p.s. The DC2 in 3 years into a build, I'm in the military and due to my job I have little time to attend to this myself, hence the garage. No bashing
Peace

Please clarify...
1 Engine cranks, [starter works] but engine will not fire, [start and run].
2 Engine does not crank, [starter motor not working].
Test starter and starter circuit...

Did this and no crank
Make sure car is not in gear and set hand brake, touch other end of jumper to batt. pos.(+) post...
Starter was grounded and had power and attempted to spin up but no actual crank to the motor itself. Sounds like its spinning freeley, possibly the wrong starter was placed on the car? Ideas??? ( I replaced the starter with what was on their but the car sat in a shop for a long period.

Ok update the starter is not the problem. When the battery is hooked up the power continuously runs, so it is obviously wired incorrectly, ideas of where to begin?

Are you saying that if you connect the batt. cable, [thicker of the two leads doing to the starter motor] to the starter motor, the starter motor runs.
There are two (2) power leads that go to the starter motor, the thicker batt. lead, [12V+ constant, hot at all times] and the much thinner exciter lead, [12V+ switched, hot only when ign. is in start position] also called the starter lead.
There is no ground lead, the starter is grounded to engine/transmission through it's mounting bolts.
If the exciter lead has power on it without turning the ign. switch to the start position, something id definatly miswired.
With that said, it sounds like you have at least two (2) problems, the above miswire and a starter problem.
The bypass jump should have cranked the engine, try the bypass jump WITHOUT the exciter lead plugged into the starter, if the batt has a good charge, the engine should crank, if the starter motor runs/spins but engine does not crank, you have either the wrong starter motor, a bad starter motor, or missing teeth on the flywheel ring gear.
You said, "I have a new B18C build" is that from a 95-99 JDM Honda Integra or do you mean a B18C1 from a 94-01 USDM GS-R?
I am not sure about your engine, but on my 94 RS, the starter motor on an automatic is diff. then the one in the 5 speed, I am guessing it must be the length of the solenoid pinion gear, the auto one would be shorter.
I would pull your starter, pull the pinion gear out of the starter, [fully extend it] measure the depth from the starters mounting surface to end of gear, then measure from the engine/transmission mounting surface to flywheel ring gear, would the starter motor pinion gear reach the flywheel ring gear????? 94
