Default Will this actually work?

I came across this picture on AJ's site. Will this thing actually aid in preventing wheel hop?

I dont think its so much for wheel hop as it is just reducing engine movement, which better transfers the power to the wheels.

Stiffer engine mounts reduce wheel hop and this seems to do te same so I would say yes i will reduce wheel hop, by how much I don't know. Just my 2 cents

Looks like it would be a *very* close fit with a full valve cover....

it's called a torque surpression devise....and it works. solid motor mounts have the same effect, but not to the same degree.

Hmmm....AJ emailed me back informing me that the engine torque dampener is
made only for RHD. Is that true?

All those peices there look exactly like my EK, so I dont see how RHD or LHD should matter.

Why should it matter? Other than it would be backwards if they made it for one side and we tried to put it on the other?

The only problem I can think of with LHD would be the routing of the PS lines.

OK i called AJ Racing...not sure who I spoke to, sounded japanese. Anyway wasnt the easiest to understand, but the one they installed was on an EK. He said the ones they have are ONLY for the EK, not the DC chassis. He said he is going to check Japan to see if they make it for the DC or not. Atleast thats what I got from the conversation haha.

To answer some of the questions raised:

There are no clearance issues with uncut valve covers, the car in the picture now sports an uncut cover and everything is fine

As for fitment, the DC2 version of this unit mounts differently than the EK in the picture. The way that the DC2 version mounts on a LHD car would put it in contact with the master cylinder, hence the fitment problems. We're still working on a way to mount it though.

The effect with the torque dampener is noticeable. Driving feel is quite improved... feeling is more direct and stable... less sloppy.

Have you looked into if the mounting brackets that J's Racing uses will work on US DC2s? It looks like they use the Mr. Alex unit, put their own sticker on it, then mount it in a different location.

I think it would be more effective near the IM behind the CG of the motor, as high up as possible. Not sure, but if there are any extra threaded holes on the head above the IM, assuming it would clear to the firewall that would be the ideal location.

The J's Racing and Alex units are the same. They are sourced from the same company. The issue is that the mounts and mounting positions are different for EK and DC2. And from what we can see on the DC2, it will likely hit the master cylinder. We're still looking into it...
