Torque Damper.. Reduces wheel hop?
I have a 00 Civic Si.. a couple months back, I started to get really bad wheel hop in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Turned out my driver side MM was broken. Replaced that and installed ES lower MM inserts. The 2nd and 3rd gear wheel hop was completely gone, but it still existed in 1st. Whenever I attempt to launch the car it still hops pretty violently.
So I was thinking about picking up a Torque Damper.. Do they really work? I know the best way to go is solid motor mounts, but for ~$100 I figured why not give it a shot.
So does anyone have any experience with these? Did it reduce wheel hop for you?
And Ingalls goes for $150, NRG goes for $90. Any info on either?
Thanks.

the torque dampers simply get rid of some of the back and forth movement of the engine.
it MAY get rid of some of the wheel hop, but it may not. It all depends on the condition of your engine mounts and condition of your suspension.

Re: (Razr2)
i'm in the same situation .. i can buy a torque damper for 40 bux .. but ppl told me just to buy new mount inserts ..
i'd love to buy new inserts.. but they are guna be a bitch to install .. especially the rear one, so i might just buy the torque damper.
if you go on youtube .. theres a video of a guy w/ a nissan showing his engine movement w/o the damper and w/ it .. and w/ it .. the engine barely moves .. so i think i might just go w/ the damper and get new motor mount inserts down the line

Inserts are a cheaper way to get semi-solid mounts. (cheaper than the entire mount)
the torque damper is an easily removable method to get close to the same thing as far as front/rear movement of the drive train.
To me it creates a simple solution for those of us that daily drive the car and don't want it to vibrate and rattle like a track car.
(removing it also extends it's life, if you don't remove it expect a max of 6-8 months worth of life out of it if you daily drive the car)

rear is cake...don't be scared of it. i swapped out my rear mount 2x while it was on the car...and on my own. the first time i had installed a 60a rear mount and it broke the same day. so i pulled it out and sent it back to the manufacture and they installed a 85a in there and now it's perfect. both times i did it on my own. took about 30 mins each time...i'm sure less time if u have a buddy. and that's with jackstands and a jack, no lifts.
