why dont you ask the machine shop that built the motor what comp it is, they will have to know unless its some dude in a garage putting it together. Most likely you can turbo it as long as you have it tuned right after the turbo instal. You can even ad a small shot of nos to gain a extra few hp and lower iat's.

with the b16 pistons with a gsr head it will give him like 11.5 cr, not super good with boost. just needs a good conservative tune. e85 will ensure no detonation

If running a B18A/B crank and rods with even USDM PR3 pistons compression is over 12:1 and that is only if the head has never been milled, which is fine for boost you just need a good tuner. The compression will depend on what pistons the motor was built with. Ask the people that built the motor what pistons they used in it. E85 will not only ensure no detonation but you will make more power with it as well over 91 pump gas.

Its all in the tuning. A good tuner and E85 work wonders. Also keep in mind that it wont take much boost to make good power with higher compression. A little 50 trim would be a fun turbo on low boost like 5-8 psi, would be a blast DD to drive. Its not like B18C and B18C5 motors have not been boosted stock before.
