Default What panel is supposed to go here?

I was looking into this used car and upon immediate review the car looked great, but I see this near the passenger footwell on the right side wall. It appears that some panel is missing exposing the ECU.

Is that normal and the panel just broke off or do you think the car has been modified?

As seen on this sedan there seems to be a bulge type plastic cover.

Would this be a deal breaker?

someone took the panel off to get to the ecu, no big deal. Maybe they changed the ECU? it's just a "kick panel" held on by 2 clips, pick one up at your local junkyard.

I wouldn't be too terribly worried.

Alright, so probably shouldn't be too worried about any modding or anything. I am coming from a 91 generation so I didn't think the ECU was originally there.

Also isn't it OBD II? Why would they pull the panel and not just use a scanner?

Also what about the dent while I am here.

your right they wouldnt need to pull the panel. if youre worried just check that the ecu matches that model. and what dent?

If you look right above the black side skirt there seems to be a little dent there.

How can I know if the ECU matches the model? Like the ecu model meaning P2P, P28 etc?

you should be able to pop that out. yeah there should be a sticker on the ecu with the type on it.

missing panel not a deal killer.. just check the ecu for correctness and the dent isnt a big deal

That is a OBD2 car and you dont jump the harness to get codes. Much easier to plug in with a scanner.

Panel is no biggie, at junkyards everywhere, check the back of the ecu to make sure it's got the make and model. I had a dent like that on my coupe it wasn't even noticeable. I don't know about popping it out but fixing it when you get it painted won't be too hard.
