Default Pushing a stock B16 longblock to the limit (NA)

Hey guys ran these on Saturday with my B16a3/ITR trans Crx Si, I figured they might be worth posting. Getting pretty close to the 12's now with the stock longblock.

Here is a video some one made me last year when the car was only running 13.61 @ 99 (If you watch the video it blew my mind at the time the car was running that fast)

http://youtu.be/eubBRR_pOoM

Here is my setup

22" tall, old *** M&H slicks
ITR tranny
Exedy flywheel
ACT clutch
Stock B16a3 longblock with unknown millage
"Magic" SiR Crx chipped ECU
Open DC header
Intake

Hope you guys enjoy, AND PLEASE does anyone know of some one going this fast on a stock long block before?

Good times, for what you are working with.

Just some suggestions:

13" wheel
New 22" M&H's
Lighten the car up (If you really want to dip into the 12's)
Replace the DC header with newer knock-off (Toda Replica)
Get the intake outside the engine bay, cool air (Various ways to do this)
CTR or similar cams, not pro1, 2, or 3's lol (If you don't care about 12's on stock cams)
Get a tune on that "magic" chipped ecu afterwards

Thank you for the advice I do really need 13" with new slicks instead of the junk old 15" 22's. But either way pulling 1.7 60ft on those slicks they can not be too bad lol.

Your right on the money with the toda rep, thats on my list and I do run a stack out the front for cool air.

I need to get HF bumper supports instead of the heavy Si one's that it has on it.

As far as cams go I thinking about running stock GSR cams with a 68mm TB and ITR intake (Please advice here if you disagree)

These pics are from a different track day this year.

And another picture of the car just because its a good picture

Never hit the scales with it, but all the DD stuff is gone (Heater/wipers/washer/passenger seat/rear area other then plastics) I bet its 1950 or maybe a bit less right now.

You should, its a lot cheaper then my boosted EG to race lol

Yea id be pulling my turbo set up and putting it in my drag car soo idk if it would make things cheaper or more expensive haha. Just always seemed like a lot of fun or do a budget b20/vtec build try to stay under a certain dollar amount.

GSR cams wouldn't be a bad upgrade and I know they are abundant. However, with ITR/CTR cams you'd feel a noticeable difference on the butt dyno and see a significant difference in elapsed times.

Note: If it were me, I'd replace valve springs if going with ITR/CTR cams. Yes, you can use B16A valve-springs and keep the stock red-line but you will not get the full benefit of the cams this way.

I like the TB and Intake combo. Although, there will be individuals who think the combination is too much for a stock bottom end with unknown mileage B16A. Yes, you will lose a little power in the mid-range with the ITR manifold but who needs mid-range in a 1/4 mile drag race.

my first drag car back in like 1999 was a similar setup. best times all motor were exactly what your running now. mine wasn't a daily but i took the bumper supports off completely and built my own. lost around 40lbs that way. inside was completly stripped except dash shell but nothing was cut. got the car down to 1877lbs with me in it. real fun car. ended up wanting me move on. threw a 75 shot on the car for one last outing and went 12.0. loved that car...good luck with it man.
