Crank Pulley needed for d16a6. Underdrive? or Dampened?
Hey guys. I am building a d16a6 motor I have for boost. The crank pulley is missing and I need a new one.
I remember the oem d16a6 pulley I had for this crank not being dampenned, but Ive searched some good info on a damepened pulley being a good investment to save my bearings.
Is there any oem honda pulleys that will bolt up to my d16a6, and use the same timing and tdc marks??
I was also thinking of going with an underdrive pulley, since my oem pulley isnt dampened, I figued a one belt underdrive pulley could be a feasible option? It had visible timing marks on it aswell, but Im unsure if they were in the correct spot for a d16a6 so I can set timing correctly on first start up and adjusting
What pulley would you guys recomened?

A dampened one would not be a bad idea.
Out of the OEM lineup, the Y8 is supposedly the best built as far as d-series damper goes.
However there are a lot of boosted A6's out there with the stock pulley. So logically the A6 one should work just fine.
I would stay away from underdrives and non-damper aftermarket.
Way to many failure threads to show them to be a bad idea.
I don't think there are aftermarket D-series damper one similar to the ones Fluidampr makes.

If I just bolted up a y8 pulley, would it use the same timing mark and tdc mark as a d16a6??
Im a noob to engine building and timing and this engine build and initial timing setting will all be a first for me when the time comes. So crazy mis aligned timing marks would probably hinder a noob on his first attempt
Id like to get the dampened pulley, y8 sounds good but the timing marks I cant find any info on. I noticed fluidamper makes a pulley for the d, but it probably has off timing marks aswell, and its $400
thanks for your help

I know the marks on the Y8 and A6 to be the same.
The Z6 is rubber filled as well, but I'm not sure on the marks with that one.

Well I just read that the a6 and y8 is base set at 12 degrees, where the z6 is 6 degrees.
So the y8 will essentially be a bolt on mod, no worrying about timing or it being off.
I read that it may be a different diameter than the a6 and I may need a new alt belt
