Heater problems!!
Well just like the topic says, I'm having heater problems for my 89 si...it use to work back in august, but now it doesnt anymore (the a/c never worked at all)... and also before, the buttons didnt work, they would just blow air through the vents and not blow air anywhere else...it was just a blown fuse, but I got that fixed... now my heater doesnt work, but everything else does (except for a/c)...it continues to blow out pretty cool air...Anybody know the problem or how to fix it? NOVA is starting to become very cold and I cant drive the car that much anymore because I cant stand freezing to death inside it...
Happened to me once. There is a cable that connects the "hot/cold" dial to a valve that opens the coolant lines to the heater core. Check to see that its connected. Once the blower motor works that should be your problem.
Like already said, there is a cable that attaches to a lever for the hot and cold. From the passenger side, look under the dash behind the heater core....it will be near the fire wall, about level with the ashtray. Even if the cable is still attached, the **** might not be moving the cable in it's sheathing (this due to broken clip near the dial) and it won't switch the lever for hot/cold. You can manually do this.
To get hot air, pull on the lever towards you, away from the fire wall.
To get cold air, push on the lever towards the firewall, away from you.
I've been doing this for a couple of years, cause i'm too cheap to buy a new heater control unit for the CRX. PITA, but it works.
Good luck

problem solved!!! thanks guys...but what do i need to change so i dont have to do it the ghetto way? i mean the cable is still connected to it, so i'm guess the AC control is what needs to be changed, right? if so, anyone got a spare AC control for sale? hit me up at infinityracr@hotmail.com if you got one
thanks again guys

2 things you can do...one would be to buy a new A/C control unit. Good luck, honda wants over $200 for a new one, and the remaining are few and far between that work and have no cracks in the face. Of course if you could find one that works, and the face on yours is not cracked, then you could just swap out parts.
Next thing you could do would be to try to fix it...take the heater/ A/C controls out and you can see where the cable attached to the temp ****. There is a small clip that more than likely is broken. If you could secure the cable to the **** turning thing, then that should solve your problem. I've also been told that it doesn't hold too long(it would all depend on how well you think you can fix it.)
Good luck
