EMERGENCY!!!!!!PLease HELP!!!!
So I painted my valve cover and it turned out shitty as hell so I used the aircraft paint stripper to take it all off and some of it got into the spark plug holes where there's a small rubber gasket in each and ate away at it......I need to take them out and put new ones in but they won't budge. Also, whats the best way to clean the inside to get away all the harmful chemicals that may be in there?????I need to get this done by tomorrow morning so I can go to school!!!!!!!!!!!!!
please tell me you did this w/ the cover off cause it dont seem like it from what im reading.
take the cover off and buy new seals if this is the case.

toothbrush....btw, never use chemicals(paint thinner) to remove the paint from the valve cover...it deteriorates the metal in the long run
use a dremel next time

How about remove the damn rubber o-rings and replace them with new ones?
Are you sure you took the V/C off first? If you did why in the hell didn't you remove the sparkplug tube seals too?
What kind of valvecover is it? It's not from a B-Series is it?

I'm wondering the same thing...
Seems like it would have been easier to remove the o-rings and all gaskets first.
Are you sure you had the valve cover off the car, or are you just saying you did to cover your ***?

what would be the best way to clean the inside though? Mild soap and water and then maybe hairdry it?????
Those gaskets come out really easy with the cover off, and you wouldnt need a hairdryer to dry it when the cover is off just take a rag to clean it up, It sounded like you were going to put water and soap in the spark plug holes and try to dry it with a hair dryer with it still on the head.....right
Anyways I'm not tryin to be an ***, we are all here to help and if you need help with taking the VC off just ask.

aight u little bitch...if u dont have anythin nice to say dont ****** post at all k....and yes the valve cover was off......i taped the spark plug holes when i painted it but didnt remove the grommets on the underside of the valve cover so yeah that was stupid.....i just wanna know the best way to take em out cuz they seem to be sealed in there pretty good and the best way to clean them....dont post if your gonna hate...everyone makes mistakes....thanx to those with advice and it's a d16z6
if the cover is off and your talking about the rubber grommets that go where the studs go they just pull off, maybe the paint is making them stick there but they will pull off.
if your talking about the spark plug gaskets just flip the cover over and pull on those, they come off very easy.
go to your honda dealer and get a valve cover gasket set, it will bring the valve cover gasket, grommets and spark plug gaskets. they go for about $40

Pry the grommets off...do whatever you gotta do, although they should just pop off. Replace them with new ones, and put you valve cover back on. Be Careful not to overtighten the bolts...if you do you will crack the head. As far as cleaning goes, soap and water and a rag to dry it up. Call a friend for a ride or you could always walk to give yourself an ample amount of time to reflect on what went wrong.
ha...naw I wasnt tryin to make this motor try and pass for an R, but I tried makin it the chameleon color from duplicolor....the paint looked sick but it didnt turn out very well for me....and Lucas569 and JDMsol, thanx for your guys' input....the grommets were stickin hella good cuz of the paint.....
okay!!! I am an expert in Metals Hince the avatar, use plenty of water to flush the striper and dont use a dremmel. Its okay for polishing but not for paint removal, it will deteriorate the metal. Get the valve cover blasted with plastic media, it will prep it for paint, Wipe it all down with Methyl Ethyl Keytone (MEK) it will remove any petrol products before paint. Paint it then put in new seals, never give up!!!
