eg with h22 - to go b series box or not? help please !
have been running my eg with straight h22 swap for a while now - have read a few things here and there that going b series box would give me 1/10th of a sec off only?
is ratios the only reason people do the swap?
would it really be worth it?
rough calculations:
1k for type R integra box + reco - new synchros and bearings etc
$700 for h2b kit
labour done by me
basically 2k!! give or take... is this really worth it?
car atm runs 14.00 on street tyres, dead stock h22 just exhaust and stand alone + gutted interior. zero traction 1st and 2nd gear
skunk drag coilovers in the mail... then big drag radials can fit.
any help would be great!

It's not just the ratios. It's a tranny that likes to go into gear unlike an H. Your also getting a setup that makes the whole swap fit like a b series. Better ground clearance, axles don't bind fit right, NO cutting a hole to make your shifter fit. Seen threads where people say they actually put more power to the ground in a B tranny. I cant personally speak on it cuz I never ran an H tranny. It's the way to go. You won't be disappointed.
I'll sell you my entire setup h2b kit Gsr trans type r diff comp twin disc that is brand new axles solid engine mounts Pm me I you want more details

they do many kits for the h series box - ratios and stronger gearsets etc
h2b also doesnt sit right? bonnet is always up at the rear from what ive seen?
main dilemma is the money issue - price of a h2b swap will get me full straight cuts and better ratios in my h box or dead stock internal b box

H2B really doesn't become a necessity until you make power. Stock vs stock the b series tranny is much stronger. 2nd and 4th break in h/f trannies just by looking at them.
Axle angle ia the biggest improvement as the h2b axles sit nice and straight reducing breakage to axles and gears under higher power levels.
If you make the switch do not buy a ITR tranny. They are junk for drag racing. Just get a b16 or gsr and put a diff in it.
^^^ this exactly... I went through 7 h series trans one being a Saenz box before I finally went to a b series trans. I know there are a few companies out there that make parts for the h trans but there are way more that do b series
