is this mess even worth fixing?(header)*PICS
for my h22.
is this cost effective to even get fixed? ill need to get the header pipe replaced, get the broken stud heated up and pulled out, theres a stripped nut. id have to buy the new header pipe as well.
or should i just save up and get a nice logic header?
how much would this work average out to if i had a muffler shop do this? ym mechanic friend's estimate was around a couple hundred. the logic header is like 400..........

im not questioning ur guys' opinion, but are u guys in the muffler shop industry?
not being confrontational, im just wondering how accurate your estimates are because im contemplating on either getting the header fixed soon or having to wait a week to get the logic header.

if the fix would be a couple hundred and a brand new one is only 400, then there shouldnt even be a question, get the new one. Although a couple hundred sounds like a lot to fix that....
if im putting money towards the car id like to see some gains anyways lol

my only worry about fixing the header you have now would be in doing so would it compromise the integrity of the material. you gotta think there gonna have to do some beatin and bangin to bring it back to round for maximum air flow. be careful and good luck if thats the route you choose.. imo, like everyone else it seems, i'd say buy a new one

To build a new collector, buy the flange, then weld it all together: I'd charge you around 200 bucks. The flange alone will cost about 30 bucks, and a good collector takes an hour or so to build, then putting it all together will be another half hour. Add it up, and your not too far from paying for a new header. I build exhausts pretty regularly, as well as manifolds, and general welding of all sorts. I charge 75 an hour.

vtech is right you would be looking at 300 to 400 to rebuild, you could also get a lower section from a junk yard or something and install might run you about 30 if you can find one.
