Climate control fan speed selector breaking
Anyone know if this is repairable? Basically, It takes excessive force to move the slider from 0 thru 1-4, and the faceplate is cracked. Should I just scrap this thing and install a new climate control?
Thanks =]

the crx ones typically fall apart by this time. I modified an ek climate control to fit my car when my original panel broke. I have a few extra ones as well.
err, yeah during my search I found several write-ups on various climate control swaps... honestly I'm too damn lazy for all that lol, I need a plug and play and/or repair solution here... specifically if the stuck speed slider can be un-stuck to prevent further damage to the rest of the unit.
usually it is already damaged pretty well behind the cover of the climate control panel. both of my crx's had issues, the first was cracked behind but looked good in front, the other was in 2 pieces all the way through.
the way i did mine with the ek it takes a very little bit of dremelling for the mounting tabs, and then the cables have to be plugged in on the other side (i already drilled the bracket on the back to mount them) and i made a jumper harness to plug into the factory plugs so no splicing is done.

If the entire unit isn't ready to crumb into dust, you can simply replace the fan-speed switch (#20). It's $68 special order part from autozone, but you may be able to find it elsewhere for less.

You could always buy a whole new climate control unit (#23) for $315 (79600-SH2-A00)

Oh snap... didn't know Autozone provided these kinds of parts. Awesome =] I'll pull it out in fall sometime when I won't need it and find out what I need to replace.
Thanks

i have never done a writeup to be honest, i just matched wire colors, got some plugs from busted crx climate controls, did a bit of soldering, and then got some machine screws and tube nuts up and made it all work. sometime i will have to do a writeup and take some pics maybe.
