Icon6 1994 Accord - OBD1 / 1997 H22A4 - OBD2

Doing a 1997 rebuild H22A4 swap into my 1994 Ex MT Accord(CD5).

I am converting my H22A4 to OBD1
Using a p28 ECU chipped and with IAB control (OBD1)

Question/s:

Can I use my F22 OBD1 wiring harness (with some mod of course)?
Can I use my F22 MT? F22 Clutch/Flywheel?
What axles do I use?
Can I use my F22 Alternator, PS Pump?

May have more questions.. But these are the ones on my mind for now..

Love the support, thanks in advance.

Wire harness- yes
Transmission/clutch/flywheel-yes
Axels-use f22 if your still using the f22 half shaft
Alternator-yes, power steering pump-no u will need to weld your old line or find a 97+ ps bracket.

-to add to your swap your going to need an obd1 distributor and injectors.

I have the ODB2 H22 Dizzy.. can I re-pin the F22 harness and plugs to match or are there extra wires on the OBD2 Dizzy?

And is it possible to use the f22 FIs or are they not big enough? or..

If not I will just sell the OBD2 Dizzy n buy a OBD1 not a big deal.

The P/S bracket should be easy enough. Thanks for the info..

I don't know about repining the obd2, but I would just find the right one. And the f22 injectors will make u run lean so I wouldn't even try it honestly.

JDM dizzy will plug right into F22B1 harness and youre good (Its how I did mine, all the sensors are inside it). No need to even hook up the crank sensors or knock on the obd 2 motor **** the knock sensor since youre going to OBD1 ;O) . The ONLY thing I had to do was extend my IAT connector lead about 8-10" since its on the # 1 runner of the H manifold.

Being you have the EX, VTEC and VTEC oil pressure are already in the harness

Ive moved mine to in the chargepipe since, but youll still have to do it regardless since its further away than the Fs

The 97 A4 also uses the older H22/H22a 50 MM main journal crank... All years after (A4) use 55 mains... Just in case youre not aware of that little quirk

SO...

F22b1 harness + ANY H22motor + JDM internal coil dizzy = No wiring **** to deal with at all, and you dont have to **** with crank snout sensors or worry about knock either

Also, YES you CAN use the Accord PS, I didnt change **** on mine. Accord pump, Prelude mount IIRC Accord belt. Im using Accord EX alt too. Old pic but you get the idea:

In these pics the Dizzy has been modified for the MSD 7AL2 and ****... But I made 610 WHP on a bone stock OEM JDM dizzy before any issues and changing it

NOTE: The H series axles are WAY WAY stronger. You will have to change the mid shaft to run them, but just because the axles are the same size (36mm style) THey are NOT the same. The H (22 or 23) are HUGE inside the cvs compared to the F series ones.

IUve benn running them (MUST BE OEM for THIS, No "rebuilt OEM, shucks or vatozone *****. OEM HONDA) at 750/575 for YEARS, and have never broke one. Ive destroyed over 25 trannys before building a straightcut box, but NEVER an axle. If you DO have trouble in the futre I highly suggest it

IDK man, All I know is its a 94EX and had the stock F22B1 in it. I did the swap myself... I dont remember which belt im using, I believe the prelude one. I can get a part number for you... BUT the pump on a 94EX works FINE in the H bracket :O)

After I finally blew up the BONE STOCK F22B1 that I boosted for over a year making 305/307 and beat the **** out of, so I KNOW nothing was changed.

It DOES sit RIGHT above the ALT though. You can see how close in my pics.

THis one looks the same too ... random pic off the net.

Thats crazy I could have swore I tried that..... Its been awhile since I did an h22 swaped accord as I just got back into a CD5 about a month ago, I know a lot of the stuff they said on all the right ups I didn't have to do, like extending all the wires I think I extended like 3 wires, and the drive side mount slide right in unlike everyone says. To the OP, an h22 swap is pretty dang easy compaired to a lot of the B series swaps and stuff.

Nice, this swap seems like it is turning out easier and easier.

Thanks for all the part matching info.

One thing I did not understand though was the axles...

If i put the H22 in my accord and use H22 axles what mid shaft do i use? h or f?

and that is with the f22 MT for now until i can get enough cash to get LSD CLI Trans.

You have to modify slightly to make the 4th gen accord work. I guess 5th gen pump bolts right up.

Whichever half shaft you want to use, you need to use that cars intermediate shaft.

Ya the drivers side mount will go in, but the motor will sit weird if you dont use the lude one.

I do have a Hasport on that side (There was nothing else available when I did this car), and my friend John at explicitspeedperformance.net makes all the mounts for it now (He made the DS mount off my car). He also did the traction bar off my car. The Traction bar and mounts work GREAT... Ive been beating the **** out of them with over 700 WHP for YEARRRRRRS

GREAT mounts he makes

So.. F22 intermediate shaft with F22 Manual Transmission using H22 axles in the EX accord?

And I heard that I can just use all the same mounts, that it drops right in.. Is this true? Or am I going to have to get some swap mounts? Hasport billet $399 or Innovative standard $299?

You can use either axle on the pass side... Drivers side you need to pick whatever axle matches your mid shaft... You CAN use either. I have had issues with the Lude axles (some of them) having clearance issues with the back of the bolt heads on the hub before.

Need to use the 12 pt 10mm ones instead of the 12s

No, if you want to use h22 axle then you need h22 intermediate shaft and visa versa. The h22 axles are supposed to be stronger too.

I have another question about the dizzy..

Should I use an OBD1 H22 dizzy or should I get an OBD1 JDM dizzy?

and should it be an internal or external coil?
