K Swapped EM1: CA B.A.R. certify?
Let me first say i feel like a amateur for asking such a vague question, but i promise my intentions are good and any feedback is more the appreciated!
Alright guys, so I'm lookin to get back in the game here pretty quick, its been 3-4 years since I've owned a Honda (93 eg hatch b18c1 5 lug etc..). This time i'm lookin to upgrade to an em1 swapped k20/24, my only problem is CA emissions and their BAR is extremely hard to please (or so i remember).. In the past i've kept a spare motor on the side to swap in for smog purposes but really don't wanna do it that way again. Being that i've been out of the game and lost touch with rolling trends i'm not even sure whether or not its even feasible to bar certify a k series in an em1 chassis. Has anybody been able to satisfy the emissions in california and certify with this set-up? Trial and error stories... do's and dont's...
TIA

I've never lived in CA, but I imagine since it is still a car engine it would pass if you converted the gas tank, ecu and all electronic and emissions equipment from a 2.4l accord. but i really have absolutely no idea.
thats some good insight and i thank you.. anyone else?
It is a large task to overcome to BAR a K swap. You would have to have the returnless fuel system and the correct fuel tank in tact, the proper ECU, and all the smog components. Since the ECU must be stock, you will have the multiplexor and anti-theft to deal with and that is impossible to get around. This can be difficult and the main reason you don't see any BAR'd swaps that are K series in cali.
