Difference in spool up between 2 housings

I have a JB 6162. Right now it has a T4.58 ar housing and it spools too slow for my b16. Would it spool up any faster if I switched to a T3 .63 ar housing?
What are the modifications done to the engine and overall setup. Things like compression, manifold, and camshafts really help us help you.

82MM 9:1 B16 with a stock b16 head and itr cams. Skunk2 IM. Last time the turbo was on the car it had a top mount with the t4.58 ar housing. This time it would be a log, mini ram, or ac ram horn with the t3.63 ar housing.

Well, iirc, the bigger the housing, the slower the spool..........and a log mani will slow the spool a little too. Top mount manifolds are pretty efficient, and when are you spooling anyway? For low comp b16, 4k or under is pretty soon. Full boost by 45k, is average for guys out here. Then again, I live @ 5300 ft elevation.
Few ever have a true twin scroll housing other than the EFR. All the others that claim twin scroll are just divided housings and won't help your response

Yea I dont want to have to dump a ton on money into getting the car back on the road. The turbo setup thats on the car now is just not cutting it. Tuner thinks my inline pro (old school one) in the problem. Plus the sc34 thats on the car now is leaking some. Seems like everytime the car crosses over into vtec is just struggles to do anything. But if he turns vtec off it pulls all the way to redline. So hes still messing with it.
I just happen to have the 6162 laying around with only about 10 dyno pulls on it. So I figured if I swapped housings and could get better spool then I would maybe just run it. My buddy has a old school rev hard tubular manifold I can get cheap if need be.

ok. but you'll see a shift in top end power in the lower rpm band. won't necessarily "spool" faster because of it. Its a large turbo.. its going to lag...

So are you saying Ill see better power lower in the rpm range. Also would having a mini ram instead of a top mount help any?

log manifolds actually spool faster than ramhorns or topmounts, they just make less power at high pressure levels due to exhaust manifold backpressure and other things.
a mini ram would spool faster, but you could ceramic coat your existing top mount and the turbine housing and see a healthy increase in response times as well as more power

the log manifold will help spool up a bit. If you look at my signature I lost about 500rpm of spool time when I switched from a log to a tubular manifold on my s2000 but gained 60whp.

That kinda why Im thinking a mini ram....... Ive had more problems with this car and at this point I just wanna get it running. I already have the turbo and a buddy has a T3 .63 ar exhaust housing. I can get the rev hard tubular from another friend for like 150 bucks.
Yep. Finally sold it to someone last year after having it over 7 years. Not one crack, over 25 events, nad you could put anything from a T3/T04 Configuration to a GT35R on it. Fun, usable, responsive, and the reason why "Equal length shorties" are used today.
