Rubbing noise when front wheels are turning -- Civic Si
I have this 99 civic Si, has this problem since the day I got it.
I drive it, and I hear this rubbing, sort of noise
I lift the car, but it on jacks, and hear the running noise.
Put it on first gear, with the front tires in the air, minor noise.
Second gear, it starts to get loud.
Third gear, Louder, 4th and finally 5th, is the loudest..
Not 100% sure if it's rubbing/grinding.
Passenger side axle is an autozone I just bought, the
One before that, the same problem and noises occurred.
I have tried searching, but it's hard with little time working, going to school, feeding this kid of mine, lol.
Any suggestions? Obviously it happens when I put it in gear, and step on the gas (all while my car's front end is Suspended in air..)

It sounds like you may need new bearings very soon. Put the car on stands and do the following: "Place your hands at 12:00 and 6:00 on the wheel and wiggle it in a rocking motion. Serviceable bearings generally allow slight movement--about 1/8 of an inch--in free play. Anything more than that will require retightening the bearing, servicing the bearing or replacing the bearing"
look for rocks in the brake pad area and the backing plate is not touching the rotor.
if that all checks out go for a drive get the noise fairly noticable.
then change lanes if the noise goes away when you turn the wheel left then the right side wheel bearing is bad.
if it goes away when you turn right it's the left bearing

Only problem with the bearing idea, is I've changed the front Si disc brakes to the integra disc brakes, and I have played with them already, but I will try again and do what you guys suggested.

I tried to see if there is any play, but there isn't in either side.
I've had a bad wheel bearing before, so I know what it feels like, and this doesn't feel like it.
I haven't taken off the brake pads yet, or taken it for a drive to double check if it might be a wheel bearing, again, I don't believe it is a wheel bearing..
Any other suggestions after I try removing the brake pads?
I'm eager to figure this out, and if anyone else has had this problem..

I just replaced the right (passenger) cv axle with an autozonr axle, I've never had a problem with them before.
The old one was leaking and no good, the boot was ripped.
I did notice when I took out the axle and had it in the air, on jack stands, and did the same thing (which is put it in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc) the noise went away..
Weird?
I have not replaced the driver side. It does not look damaged or anything.

Do you hear the noise while the car's not in gear WHILE the wheels are in motions?
What side of the vehicle is the noise coming from?

I had such issue after replacing my brake rotors, and it was a silly problem !!
Behind the rotor there is a rounded tin (dunno what it is exactly called) but for some reasons, it was hitting the rotor and made a grinding sound.
Try checking that!

UPDATE:
I'm able to now rule out the brake pads (took them off), the brake shield behind the rotor, and I think the front wheel bearings, since I turned the wheel in either direction, and it makes no difference.
Also, there is no real play with the front wheel bearings.
The thing that threw me off, is that I was hearing a grinding AND rubbing sort of noise, and that was because of the brake shield, was making a grinding noise.
Fixed that
I took out the wheel, turned the vehicle back on, put it in 5th again, because it is the loudest, and noticed when I put it back in neutral, the noise goes away.
If I literally push the shifter towards 5th or whatever gear, without my foot pressing down on the clutch pedal, it'll start to make a noise..
I then press down on the clutch pedal, place it in any gear, the higher the noisier (keep in mind), Leave it in gear, the noise starts up, I press down I the clutch pedal, the noise goes away.
Is this a clear indication it's my throw-out bearing?
Or could it be the axle?
Or anything wrong with this tranny?

Also thanks to EVERYONE on here who's helped me so far!!!
Any suggestion helps, and I'd like to fix this car before I sell it,
Since for whatever reason, I can't sell a car unless I fix it.
Can't let anyone inherit this problem I did..

That is referred as a backing plate or the splash/dust shield. A lot of times when the wheels are removed/replaced they get slightly bent inward towards the rotor causing the rubbing noise. You just bent it back away from the rotor and the noise will go away.
then you step on the clutch and the noise goes away it NOT the throw out bearing.
if the noise is only there with the tranny in a gear and louder in higher gear it's Most likely an output bearing check the tranny oil level if it is up to level then start looking for a new trans.

Input shaft bearing? ISB? I found threads on them, but can't find a do it yourself on it..
I have read I can order the part from Honda, anywhere from 20-50 bucks..
Just wondering how difficult it is to change out the input shaft bearing..?
Or if I should just leave it to a mechanic.. Which isn't much of an option at the moment..

If you've never replaced an ISB before, expect it to take 10 hours of wrench time. The ISB is the last bearing you can pull out of the transmission. While you're in there, it would be smart to replace all bearings, seals, and the synchros.
