gas mileage issues
I live in the city and have been averaging 11 mpg in my 2006 honda civic Up until about three months ago, I was getting in the mid-twenties. I realize that the stop and go traffic and the averaging 25 mph would lower the fuel efficiency, but should it be that much? I just got my oil changed at the beginning of the summer, haven't put close to 3000 miles on it yet. Is there something I can do to change this? Or am I just going to have to accept it? I guess the upside is that I don't drive too much, so I'm not filling my tank every week, but 11 mpg is awful for a civic!

Yea 11mpg city is way too low seems like something is wrong. Like others asked have you made any other changes and do you notice loss in performance to start. Have you had any check engine lights or anything?

iam with garrett05 tires will not make ur mpg that low , it could be anything , brakes are sticking( lift all wheels of the ground and rotate them by hand , look for any binding on the rotation ) , one if not all cylinder have lost compression ( do a leakdown test , compression test ) check ur spark plugs gap them correctly , check timing if anything that will make ur mpg that low is a weak engine not timed right or weak cylinder
Take a look at your exhaust pipe (and smell the exhaust after the car is warmed up). If it looks rather sooty or smells "rich" (unburned gasoline smell) you might have an oxygen sensor related problem or even a temperature sensor. I think these things should trigger a check engine light, but there could be something going on there.
Like the others said, start with a good tuneup and look for any vacuum lines that might be loose or in bad shape while you are at it.

I've got the same problem with my 07 Civic coupe, I don't drive it hard and always shift at 3,000 RPM or lower. I'm gonna get new spark plugs and replace the air-filter as well as do an oil change. Hopefully it will fix the problem because right now I get the same mileage as on my old 2000 VR6 Jetta which really sucks
Clean MAF sensor, reset ECU...
According weather condition (colder) and longer time to car engine reach working temperature your engine can use more full .

I've heard that a woman took her claim that her 2006 Honda Civic hybrid doesn't achieve its advertised gas mileage before a judge Tuesday in a case that's attracting national attention.
The trial was held in small-claims court in Torrance, Calif., a couple of miles from Honda's U.S. headquarters.
