Default Question about base timing and advance reading and pinging.

Ive been chasing some pinging and power loss and bouncing idle issues for awhile in my car. Ive been sticking it on the scanner at work and checking stuff out when it acts up. I know base timing for my Y8 should be 12 BTDC +-2. When I have it on the scanner it will sit at 10-14 advanced at idle with the car fully up to temp. So does anyone know if that value is measured from TDC or advanced from the base timing?

Most cars Ive seen idling sit at like 20 degrees advanced or more. Are my values normal? Im getting a lot of what Im assuming is pinging under load (taking off, going up hills etc). Ive filled it up with premium twice and both times the noise seems to quiet down dramatically. Its sitting with a tank of 93 octane and octane booster in it now and my power is back and the car seems to be running better. Its idling beautifully too.

Ill get a timing light if need be. I just dont know how much the Honda PCM can adjust base timing. Everything Ive worked on runs an ICM and coil packs so no dizzies to play with. If I cant get something figured out Im just going to start datalogging when my ElmScan comes in.

So far Ive done:
Cleaned IACV (it was nasty)
Cleaned FIAC
New Upstream O2
New ECT (was reading erratically)
Adjusted the idle screw
New PCV and PCV hose because mine collapsed.

Im just at the end of my rope. Thanks for any help.
