Default Buying Remanufactured AC compressor?

Is it safe to buy a remanufactured AC compressor from Napa? I would like AC in my Civic for next summer and I've already installed the evaporator box with a cabin air filter in my car. I'm thinking about going to a used Honda parts shop and have them install a used condenser, fan, all the hoses and have then evacuate the system and charge it up. I'll get the dryer new as well as the compressor. But will a remanufactured one last as long as a new one? Thanks!

Check to see if they have warranty and make sure what kind of warranty it is. I got my A/C compressor from junkyard and it's blowing nicely so far. It only cost me 25 bucks. I think it was well worth it. Just another option to think about.

Anything reman or used, especially something as finicky as an A/C Compressor, is hit or miss. Could work forever, could die next week. Basically, buyer beware, etc.

Thanks for the replies! I might just buy one new because if the remanufactured one dies or if a junk yard one dies on me, then I'll have to take it in, get the system evacuated, replace the compressor... etc. I'll save the trouble and just get a new one.
