Default Oil Pump Installation

Greetings. I just got done rebuilding my engine and i'm more than 1/2 done, but I might have messed up on the oil pump installation. When I installed it, I forgot to put in all the bolts.

The relevance of this is the liquid gasket I applied when I first put the pump on. The manual says to put the pump on not more than 20 minutes after you apply the liquid gasket. It specifically says, "Do not install the parts if 20 minutes or more have elapsed since applying liquid gasket. Instead, reapply liquid gasket after removing the old residue."

It was 20 minutes or more after I completely put it on with all the bolts. Has anyone ever done this and do you think I can just leave it as it is?

When I first put the oil pump it seemed to be sealing fine even with 4 missing bolts. I just forgot to put in all of the bolts until I got done with the water pump which was over 20 minutes later.

Ironically, I took a pic of my engine before I tightened the other 4 bolts down. All four bolt holes are visible, two are above the left balance shaft,

Is it really that much trouble to pull it back off and reapply? if the picture is current the motor is still on the stand so now would be a good time to pull it back appart and redo the RTV.

leaving it as is, dropping it back in the car and finding out in a few days/weeks/months that the front of the motor pours oil and then having to pull the motor out to redo it (because you can't get the pump off with the motor in the in car)... this would not be fun.

if I were you I'd redo it all to be sure it's right. could the current condition be leak-free? maybe. but i don't think you want any "maybes" when it comes to building your motor.

It is trouble to take the pump off again, I'm going to have to take off the oil pan because there are 2 studs on the pump which are bolted to the pan.

I guess i'm gonna have to do it though, you have a point.

Thanks for your reply.
