Default Fan issue

Hopefully I don't get flamed I did check the search but couldn't find any issues like mine. I drive a 1989 Crx with a JDM b16a swap. Now for the fan, it doesn't turn on when the car gets hot. It turns on whenever it wants to. I let the temp get to about 90 percent just to see if it would turn on. But it didn't. So then I turn the car off and put it in the on postion and the fan went on all of a sudden. Weird right? Then I turn the car on again(motor running this time too) and it still is running. Then after it cools the car down it shuts off and won't go back on again. I heard the relay clicking, everything seems to be grounded properly. Any idea's?

you have a lazy fan switch, swap out asap to prevent damage to the engine. mine did the opposite, it'd be a 35* day car cold from sitting and the fan would come on

Start here^ by topping off the radiator and reservoir with coolant and bleeding the cooling system.

If that doesn't help, then unplug the fan switch and jump the connector with a wire or paperclip to see if the fan now runs continuously. If so, replace the fan switch.

Does the fan run constantly if you jump the fan switch connector? This is the next thing to try.

After you check the switch, check the relay. They can work intermittently.

Clicking means the coil is working, but the contacts can go bad.
