H22 EK randomly goes into and out of limp mode???HELP!!!
Story.....
I race this car on a circle dirt track every weekend, I have been running a B18a until a month ago. The B18a ran great, but I blew it up and thought I might as well go bigger! I swapped my F20b in and have had nothing but problems.
First I got the engine in and running, went out to the race and fried my injector driver on the ecu. I believe this was because i had only one weak ground. I got my new ECU and put the F20b injectors in it, and it runs again. I took it out to the track and now I am having a limp mode type of problem.
I will be going down the track, anywhere between 6-8500 rpms and after it is warmed up it seems, the car will just cut out....like it just dies. BUT it does not die, it will just cut out and not rev up, idle fine but not go over 4000rpm, no CEL, and then 5-10 sec later, snaps out of it and I can go full throttle again.
I am so lost with this, I have tested damn near everything on this car and I am stumped. Here is the list of tested or replaced with known good parts and stuff done.
ECU( I have not changed the bin file, just the ecu)
Main relay(one on the passenger side/7 pin)
Distributor
Coolant temp sensor
Wiring harness
Alternator
Jumped fuel pump to run off my own switch bypassing main relay
I do not use a key switch, I have it push button start
I am not using the VSS, deleted via crome.
If I switch the car off for a second and back on it changes nothing, stays in this limp mode type of situation. Then like I stated, 5-10 sec later it just works great again for another 3 laps and then same stuff again... over and over and over...
I am not getting any CEL, codes or anything period showing faults. Its just random as heck! I have the fastest car out there, when it runs! I will get a half lap lead on the field of cars, then it just does this die stuff...
Anything helps guys! Thanks!!!!

Do you have an oil pressure gauge? It might be starving of oil in the turns. There has been problems where the pins that lock the rockers do not move over to engage vtec thus making it run like crap. That would be a good thing to check as well. Or lock vtec and be over with it if that is the problem.

How would I got upon locking the pins? Is it easy to do? Ruff Idle I would guess....
put a gauge on the car to find out if there is an oil pressure drop. Yes, locking vtec will give you a rough idle and will need to retune for the lower rpm map. To lock the pins you need to disassemble the rockers and insert a small bearing behind the pin so that it is always locked.

I am not losing oil pressure when this happens, so it must not be vtec related, unless the solenoid is giving. Doesn't matter anyway....Blew up another engine last night....make it 6 between my car and my buddy Integra this year....Yup, 6.
