Icon3 *****Identifying this "LS" crankshaft?*****

Okay so i purchased this crankshaft from someone on craigslist, was told it was from a b18b1 block that had very low miles on it... I always thought ls crankshafts were bigger and longer than the gsr, but when i got home and compared both of them together, i was alittle upset.. check the pictures. the ls crank is also a bit lighter then the gsr and the blades are a bit shorter..

i wanted to build my bottom end gsr block for boost since i spun a rod bearing on the gsr crank and i heard going ls crank should give me more torque...

so ill show you guys the comparison of this gsr crank and this "LS" crank, can anyone tell me if this is not a LS crank or if it is?

--- Notice the edges are smaller on the LS crank.

i hope its a LS crank.. ALso a weird this is when i turn my block upside down(block stand) and put 2 old surface bearings on the block 1 on each side and set the ls crank down and try to spin it carefully it doesnt hit my oil suirters..... isnt the blades sapposed to hit? or do i need LS bearings aswell because i used my gsr ones....

plz help!!!! thanks!!

sorry for the bad pictures btw!

how would the crank be longer? if it was it wouldn't fit in your block, lol.

it appears you do have an ls crank, the rod journals should be wider than your gsr.

all the letters and numbers you posted only tell you what bearings were installed if you had the block it came from, because you dont they are pretty much worthless. as for it being a ls crank or not why not measure the stroke while turning it on v blocks that would be the most accurate way to distinguish.

You already got the correct answer to figure out which is which.

its just weird that it doesnt hit the oil quirters though and its way lighter. i have a digital caliper stick thats the best i can find for right now.

LS journals read
MAIN: 55.09mm ROD:45.01mm

GSR journals read
MAIN: 55.03mm ROD:45.03mm

i know these are diffenently unaccurate but caliper measure is all i have right now. if anyone can base their caliper measurements to the same specs that would help out. thanks

The difference in stroke is only 1.8mm - you can't see that visually. The GSR rod bearings should be thinner than LS bearings. You could easily put them on the LS crank and see if there is play side to side. And yes the LS crank should weight half a pound less.

it does weigh half pound less your right. i still cant seem to figure out why it doesnt hit the oil squirters though. maybe i need ls bearings?
