Default oil level too high?

I have a b20b turbo. I recently changed the oil. drained all the oil, and removed the filter. I had 4 quarts of new oil total. I put some in the filter to prime it. them put the rest in the engine. I thought b20s took 4 quarts but my dipstick reads half a quart over the top dot. Thats when the car sits overnight. but when warm it reads a little under the 2nd dot.

whats going on?

thats what i thought. but dont you check the oil when it sits over night? ive heard so many different theories on this. i let the pan drain all the drips for like 35 minutes. and put only 4 quarts in

if its only a tiny bit over, it's not a big deal.

it'll be fine. Just gives you more time before you have to check it again. If you notice performance decrease or wierd noises for some odd reason, drain a little out.

myn reads high when cold but thats due to an oil cooler after start up it returns to normal

the only reasons i can think of ...
not all oil drain out when you changed it
oil filter capacity is draining back when cold
