The car drove great for 300 miles with reverse and now I cannot get it into reverse. LSD Tranny. 1-5 are a little tight and going through the gears feels smooth. N E ideas?

well h22's can have problems going into reverse...especially if the 3rd gear has been rammed hard...

There is one thing you could try. Try to move the gear shifter into reverse and hold it. SLOWLY let out on the clutch. Many times, it will slip into reverse once some pressure is applied to the main shaft. If it still won't go into reverse and grinds, then I say you need to drop the tranny and take a look at it.

"that is a view of underneath the little box where the linkage connects to the tranny. as you can see, the little "groove" that usually has a **** in it that moves it back and forth to select the gears is quite worn! this would explain me losing 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear. every time the **** goes to push up, there is nothing there since its worn off! so hopefully ill replace this part so its driveable for now then get the reverse fixed sometime later. i think its just the reverse fork that needs replaced so that shouldnt be too bad."

 

this happened in my gsr motor..

 

should be the same sort if issue....if you can locate the same part

 

so either way i have to take it out and look at it? i'm lazy.. might just buy a new tranny

 

Well this is just under the box where your linkage connects so it's not that hard..

 

hey!!!!!!! its my car!!! turns out the reason i lost 1st, 3rd, and 5th was due to my linkage. it was cracked like sh*t right behind the block where it turns and heads down under the car. fixed that, and it shifts fine. still no reverse though, havent gotten to that. im guessing its a bent reverse fork or 5th gear syncro or something....o well...for now i just have to make sure i pull through parking spots so i dont have to push myself out. its worked fine like that for months

 

i checked my linkage and nothing wrong..

 

Bad 5th gear syncro will not let you go into reverse, ask me how I know.... I still have the gears on my desk from 2 years ago...
